UPDATE: Cee Lo is Quitting

There are reports that Cee Lo Green went rogue when he decided to announce his exit from "The Voice" on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

Sources also tell us that Cee Lo’s decision to quit was to avoid being fired by NBC.

The show’s producers aren’t really sure what to do with Green's vacant seat at this point.

According to our sources, NBC wanted to announce Cee Lo’s departure mutually with him, but he decided to do it on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

Show creator Mark Burnett allegedly had to spend a lot of time with an emotional Cee Lo last season. On at least two occasions, he had to leave the set. The belief was that he was feeling the weight of a legal case that could lead to prison time. He’s accused of slipping a woman ecstasy and could spend four years in jail.

In the meantime, Cee Lo will be touring with former Commodores frontman Lionel Richie.
