Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Disappointed Royal Family With Christmas Plans

The Royal Family Attend Church On Christmas Day

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry can't seem to catch a break from royal feud rumors. As Christmas gets closer, new reports suggests members of the royal family are actually pretty miffed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have decided to spend the holidays with Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, in Canada.

“Some members of the family think the couple should have considered Queen and Prince Philip’s advancing age,” a source told Entertainment Tonight. Meghan and Harry recently announced they'd be taking a 6 week sabbatical from their official royal duties, which just so happens to coincide with the holidays. The royal insider believes Meghan and Harry are "entitled to a break" from royal life, however, they added that the Sussexes shouldn't have scheduled the time off to overlap with the holiday season. “After all, at 93 and it being Archie’s first Christmas, neither Her Majesty the Queen nor Prince Philip will be around forever,” the source concluded.

Adding to all the drama, Prince Philip was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London on Friday (December 20). "The admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness' Doctor," a palace statement explained. The Duke was expected to remain in the hospital for a few days, though it's not clear if he will be released in time for the holidays.

Despite rumblings of tension behind the scenes, the palace's official statement about Meghan and Harry's holiday plans says the couple has the blessing of the Queen to miss out on her annual festivities at her Sandringham Estate.
