Lorde was at the center of some major controversy on Thursday night (April 5) after the pop star posted a problematic photo of a filled up bathtub along with Whitney Houston lyrics as the caption, which many folks thought was a direct reference to the pop titan's unfortunate death in a Beverly Hilton Hotel tub in February 2012.
In the photo, the 21-year-old pop star captioned the shot of her bathtub with the one-liner, "And iiii will always love you," from Houston's classic rendition of Dolly Parton's 1973 original.Oblivious to her mistake, Lorde quickly deleted the image and issued an apology on her Instagram Story, writing, "Extremely extremely poorly chosen quote. I'm so sorry for offending anyone — I hadn't even put this together I was just excited to take a bath. I'm an idiot. Love Whitney forever and ever. Sorry again."
Unfortunately, her apology was a little too late for some as her Instagram account is still currently being flooded with messages about the flub. In her most recent post, which put her latest Barclay Center concert on display, the singer shut off her comment section to prevent the mistake from spreading any future, but the damage has been done.
