Third time’s a charm for Elle Woods.
On Thursday, Reese Witherspoon confirmed the third installment of the “Legally Blonde” franchise, clad in her character’s signature bedazzled pink bikini.
“It’s true… #LegallyBlonde3,” Witherspoon, 42, shared on Instagram, paying homage to a scene in the original film by floating on a pool raft.
MGM was said to be nearing a deal with Witherspoon to reprise her role as the sorority girl turned Harvard grad, according to Deadline. The film’s original scribes, Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCullah, are reportedly in final talks to helm the script.
Released in 2001, “Legally Blonde” grossed $141 million worldwide, while the 2003 sequel, “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde” raked in $124 million.
The original flick also starred Luke Wilson, Victor Garber and Ali Larter.
