Major Chicken Recall!

If you buy Simmons Prepared Foods chicken, you might want to double check package because the company just issued a voluntary recall. According to theU.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service, this is due to concerns that it may be contaminated with metal. Over 2 million pounds of product that was produced from October 21, 2019 through November 4, 2019 was part of this recall. Products include: boneless skin chicken, whole chicken, and chicken wings. The establishment number on these products has "P-1949," "P- 486" or "P-5837" inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania. The company issued astatementsaying,

That is why Simmons has issued a precautionary and voluntary recall of approximately 2 million pounds of fresh and frozen chicken products due to the potential to contain extraneous material, specifically metal ... Simmons Foods' values the trust our customers place in us to deliver quality products that are safe. When something happens that is potentially inconsistent with this promise to our customers, it will always require careful and constant review to maintain our commitment to food safety."

While there have been no reports on any injuries or illnesses, the company urges you to throw away or return the products. You can see the full list of recalled productshere.
